The Jubilee Year of Mercy is a major focal point for the Catholic Church during 2015-2016. The diocese has produced a bannerstand as a focal point for our primary schools to help the children reflect upon the theme of Mercy. The central image is that of the Good Samaritan. The parable of the Good Samaritan is being offered as a focus by the diocesan department for Religious Education in Schools for discussing the theme of Mercy.
The banner uses the image of the Good Samaritan as an aid to recall what it is to be merciful. The banner then simply states the question ‘How can you show mercy?’ as an invitation to find ways to be merciful everday and then put them into practice.
