Having returned to Wales and hearing of the news of the death of the former First Minister of Wales, Rhodri Morgan, Archbishop George Stack issued the following statement:
“I join with the people of Wales in mourning the death of Rhodri Morgan, “the Father of the Nation” who did so much to contribute to the development of the political identity of Wales during his time as First Minister. He was obviously a vibrant, intelligent and passionate man who put those good gifts at the service of the common good. His good humour and common sense as well as his political acumen put the Welsh Government on a firm foundation. His sudden death, whilst out cycling near his home in Wenvoe, has been a shock to all. May he rest in peace and rise in glory”.
