The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have taken the decision to reinstate two of the Holydays of Obligation that were transferred to the nearest Sunday back in 2006.
With effect from the First Sunday of Advent, Sunday 3rd December 2017, the following days are reinstated to their proper places in the Liturgical Calendar:
– Epiphany – 6th January or the adjacent Sunday if it falls on a Saturday or a Monday.
– Ascension – 40 days after the celebration of Easter (Thursday after the Sixth Sunday of Easter)
