Founder of Cathedral Choir and Choir School laid to rest

Friday 6th March 2016 was a sad day for the staff, pupils and family of St John’s College; the parish community of St David’s Cathedral, Cardiff; and the diocese as a whole as Archbishop George Stack celebrated the Requiem Mass of Dr. David Neville KSG.

Tributes were paid and both the Metropolitan Cathedral Choir and his beloved wife Diana and her sons sung in celebration of the life a musical genius and loving husband, father and headmaster.  Canon Peter Collins, Dean of St David’s Cathedral spoke movingly of Dr Neville’s service as Director of Music, Organist and Choir Founder over the past 35 years of service.  He also gave the congregation an insight to the generous, caring and humble nature of a true giant in the Cathedral parish.

His sons Dominic, Ambrose and James gave three moving eulogy’s of their father, each reflecting upon a particular aspect of his life – Musician, Headmaster, Father.

The legacy of Dr. Neville will carry both the music at St. David’s Cathedral and the spirit of St. John’s College for generations to come.

May he rest in peace. Amen.
