It is remarkable how the Psalms still resonate with us today. Their human words seem to measure out the whole of human experience, its highs and lows. They are cries of anguish in the face of suffering, voicing our perplexities at life’s frustrations and at the apparant silence of God. But the Psalms also express wonder at Creation, and sing joyfully of love, human and divine. Above all the Psalms seem to take us on a journey into God. Our Lent retreat will follow this path of the Psalms that leads us into the Easter Mystery. The singing of the psalms in the monastic liturgy will provide a framework and rhythm of the day.
