Continuing the celebrations of the Centenary of the diocese, an open air Mass is taking place at St. Joseph’s High School in Newport. Newport was of course the seat of the Bishops of Newport. Looking back to our heritage we revisit the home of the Catholic Diocese of Newport which served the South Wales region following Catholic Emancipation in 1829 and the Restoration of the Hierarchy in 1850.
Newport paved the way for the present Archdiocese of Cardiff, so it is fitting we gather to offer a Mass of Thanksgiving in the area.
