Diocesan Evangelisation Groups

We have a range of ways to get involved in Evangelisation across the diocese. How will you help us spread the Gospel?

Intercession Working Group

For the past year, intercession events have been held every third month at St Philip Evans as part of Keep FIT. Our long term goal is to have one or two prayer events for evangelisation in each of our six deaneries each year. Therefore, the Intercession Working Group exists to liaise with each of the six deaneries in the Diocese and support them as they organise prayer events in their local area. If you would like to join the working group or feel you are able to aid them in your particular deanery please contact the group’s secretary, Teresa De Ste Croix.

Evangelisation Commission

The Commission is a small group of key individuals representing the six deaneries and the missionary organisations active in the Diocese. It meets three or four times each year to reflect on the needs of the Diocese, and where the Evangelisation Officer might best focus new work. If you would like to contact the commission please email the secretary, Madeleine Walters.

Cornerstone Planning Group

The Cornerstone Planning Group meets on the third Monday of each month to plan and develop evangelisation activities and events at the Cornerstone. The team works in conjunction with Canon Peter Collins and the Cornerstone staff. It also serves as a channel of liaison between the Cathedral and our wider pool of volunteers for events. Some of these events may include special events run by the group itself (e.g. post-Easter Risen event) as well as examining how to support other events running at the Cornerstone (e.g. Lenten Lunches) with an evangelistic presence. Madeleine Walters chairs this team and she can be contacted by clicking here.

Regional Support Group

The Regional Support Group attends evangelisation events in locations across the Diocese, working to support local host teams with skills including refreshments, welcoming and group-leading. This group also supports the Intercession Events as required, for example, reading or offering musical talents.

Cornerstone Support Team

The Cornerstone Support Team attends events at the Cornerstone as “ministers of welcome” and provides a presence of committed church members at these events, introducing faith-issues into conversations without being pushy or proselytising. Unlike the Regional Support Team, this team does not provide any catering assistance as events in the Cornerstone are professionally catered for by Spiro’s. This allows the team to focus on both a more formal and informal need for conversation and “presence” and to witness their discipleship to those they encounter at events.

Training Team

The Training Team travels to different areas of the Diocese offering them training and advice in particular areas. The team will help by delivering material to a classroom of adults or facilitating a small group during a field visit to a parish or area. The team members share their own experiences and strengthen the mutual support we are building up across the Diocese.
