“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.., singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” (Col 3:16)
The Church has a very rich tradition of music and singing. Liturgical music adds depth to our words, which brings more power and meaning to our celebration. For the Jubilee Year of Mercy the Church has been gifted with a hymn, the tone of which calls us into a reflective type of prayer. It puts before us the immense depth and reach of the Mercy of the Father and through the words “Misericordes Sicut Pater!” (the motto of the Jubilee Year) exhorts us to be merciful like Him. You can listen to the Latin version below, and find resources for the English version of the hymn on this page.
